Liberty produces a handsome red apple, usually school box size, of the McIntosh type with a wonderful sweet/tart balance. Liberty was developed at the famous Geneva Research Station in the 1960s. It is derived from Macoun, and is very much a McIntosh-style apple, with red skin and juicy flesh. The flavor is well balanced, perhaps sharper than many of the Mac-related varieties but still with the characteristic vinous note.
Comes to us from Okanogan Producers via Walla Walla Food Hub. We are five small farms that work together, sharing resources, equipment, knowledge, expertise, marketing and sales. OPMA was officially formed in March of 2006. Over the years, we have cultivated a close working relationship between the farms and our Co-op for the benefit of our consumers. We believe that by working as a collective we are able to offer our customers much more than we could as individual farms.
Farms carried in this store include Filaree Fruit, Apple Cart Fruits and Whitestone Mountain.
